Please Plant This Song(external link) a song for Richard Brautigan by Aaron McDonald of Portland, Oregon. Part of his Song-a-Day project.

Bridge over Brautigan(external link) This song by Zoinks was featured on their 1996 album Stranger Anxiety.

Trout Fishing in America(external link) This band, which takes it's name from Brautigan's novel, originated in 1979 out of the musical partnership of guitarist Ezra Idlet and bassist Keith Grimwood.

Pacific Radio Fire(external link) A band from Bath. Their name is the title of a short story by Brautigan, apparently the vocalist's favorite author.

According to their webpage, Klaxons(external link) read voraciously and their lyrics, full of references to the writing of Richard Brautigan, Thomas Pynchon, JG Ballard, Alfred Jarry, etc, are a refreshingly far cry from the current trend for bus stop'n'chips social realism.

"Forgotten Works"
from their album "Myths of the Near Future" (2007)

The tomb crew bring sugar oil
We'll meet at the mirrored statue
Margaret my girl, standing on air
That is my name. That is my name.

Light the bridges with the lantern,
you know something's going to happen.

Tigers, in-boil
Forgotten works

Frank J. Oteri(external link) has the following Brautigan-inspired compositions:
  • In Watermelon Sugar (a Richard Brautigan opera in 31-tone equal temperament)
  • The Return of the Rivers (a Brautigan cycle for solo voice and keyboards)
  • Two Transfers (a Brautigan cycle for tenor and string quartet)
  • Pity The Morning Light That Refuses to Wait for Dawn (a Brautigan requiem for soloists, chorus and orchestra)
