A Sad Mistake
They approached him as if his mind
were a cactus, when it was really a colorful
old bus on its way through the desert.

Brautigan
I find myself
Reading a dead man’s poems
And wondering
If he’ll have time
To talk with me

Boise, hot and black...
whenever I would come to visit you,
the second thing you would do was
put on a pot of coffee.
6 scoops of coffee.
6 cups of water.
You owned only two old mugs;
one had a picture of an angel,
the other, a map of Idaho.

Brautigan's Death
When you died I'd expect you to climb an apple tree,
a blue scarf tied smartly around your neck.
I'd expect you to stand by yourself, on the air, under
the branches, under the black, soundless sun.
Instead, you pointed a shotgun at your own head.
Your arms must have been very long.

llámalo como te sientas
richard se comió un sapo
y murió
y no puedes
no podrás saberlo nunca

From Ancient Acid Flashes Back
by Adrian C. Louis?
Adrian C. Louis's hardhitting and edgy tenth volume of poetry is derived from recollections of the poet's wild times in San Francisco in the late sixties.
